Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents of Abuja that the city will undergo massive infrastructural transformation before the end of President Bola Tinubu’s first term.

Wike made the pledge on Monday while flagging off access roads ILS 02 and ILS 03, also known as Timipre Sylva Street, in Mabushi District. He said the projects align with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises modern infrastructure, efficient transportation, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment.

No Room for Abandoned Projects

The Minister dismissed criticisms that his administration was overly focused on road construction, stressing that infrastructure is the foundation of development.

“Don’t bring projects when you don’t have the money,” Wike cautioned. “Contracts without funding only raise false hopes.”

He emphasised that all projects initiated under his leadership were fully funded to avoid abandonment.

Judiciary Housing in Focus

After the Mabushi road event, Wike inspected ongoing works at the Court of Appeal complex in Dakibiyu, Jabi District, and the judges’ quarters in Gishiri.

While commending progress on the housing units, he expressed concern over delays at the Court of Appeal site.

“I am not too satisfied that the contractor will meet the promised timeline, but I believe the project will not exceed this year,” Wike said, adding that the contractor had been summoned for urgent discussions.

He further praised President Tinubu’s commitment to judicial welfare, noting that decent housing would help safeguard judicial independence and protect judges from criminal threats.
