The Ikorodu Magistrate Court has ordered that DNA tests be conducted to establish the paternity of Liam Aloba, son of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The directive was issued on Tuesday by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga in response to an application filed by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, who requested clarity on the child’s paternity. Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, is listed as the respondent in the suit.
In his filing, Joseph Aloba argued that the matter needed to be resolved without ambiguity, noting that “uncertainty regarding the paternity of Master Liam Aloba must be conclusively addressed.”
Ruling on the application, Magistrate Sonuga ordered that two separate DNA tests be carried out in recognised medical facilities — one in Nigeria and another abroad. The court further directed that both parties or their representatives must be present at the point of sample collection.
The case has been adjourned until November 11, 2025, for continuation of proceedings.
