Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has described the return of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a significant gain for the ruling party in Lagos.

Obasa, who received Jandor at his Ikeja GRA residence on Tuesday, welcomed him warmly, stressing that the APC remains the platform that best represents the aspirations of Lagos residents.

“We are happy to have you back. This is a very good move,” Obasa said, assuring Jandor of full reintegration and collaboration in advancing the party’s goals.

He praised Jandor for what he termed courage and conviction, adding that the APC’s inclusive structure offers the right foundation for unity and development.

In his response, Jandor expressed gratitude for the reception and pledged his commitment to working with the APC for the progress of Lagos and Nigeria. He also commended President Bola Tinubu’s tax reforms, describing them as bold and people-centered despite resistance from critics.

“It takes courage and leadership to introduce such reforms in the face of resistance. The President has once again demonstrated his resolve to put the people first,” he said.

The meeting ended with both leaders reaffirming their resolve to strengthen the APC and improve the welfare of Lagosians.

Jandor, who officially announced his return to the APC in March after resigning from the PDP over indiscipline and anti-party activities, has faced criticism since his defection. The Lagos PDP Deputy Chairman, Tai Benedict, alleged that Jandor had been planted by the APC to weaken the opposition.
