Isaac Fayose, businessman and political commentator, has stirred reactions with his bold claim that he could generate ₦2 billion in just six months if he were governor of Lagos State.

Speaking during an episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Fayose said he would outperform the current Lagos administration in terms of revenue generation—mainly by harnessing the untapped potential in the entertainment and tech industries.

“If I were the governor of Lagos, I could generate ₦2 billion in six months,” Fayose stated confidently. “Ask me how, and I’ll tell you.”

He went on to outline a series of ideas, including the development of a music and entertainment city between Ikate and Ilashe. According to him, the project would attract both local and international investors, with luxury apartments selling for as much as $1 million each.

“I’d build an artist city that celebrates our stars—create a sort of hall of fame. You’d only access it by boat. Bring in companies like Google and Netflix. Turn Yahoo boys into tech innovators. It’s very possible,” he said.

Fayose also criticized the current state of infrastructure and access to credit in Nigeria, arguing that despite sitting on “trillions,” many Nigerians remain poor.

“You go to the bank, they’ll ask for your mother’s DNA before giving you a loan. No collateral, no money. Yet we have so much untapped wealth, and the people are suffering,” he lamented.

He concluded by calling for more creative, inclusive, and forward-thinking governance that leverages Nigeria’s youthful population and creative industries to drive economic growth.
