Nigeria’s Super Falcons triumphed over Morocco with a thrilling 3-2 comeback in the final of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), securing a record-extending 10th championship and a landmark $1 million prize.
The prize money, now doubled from the previous edition, marks the first time the new reward structure has been implemented, with Nigeria becoming the inaugural beneficiaries of the increased payout and the newly designed WAFCON trophy.
Despite trailing by two goals, the Falcons staged a remarkable turnaround with strikes from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and a dramatic late winner by Jennifer Echegini, sealing the historic win in Rabat.
