Ogun Residents Protest as Crash Claims Four Pupils on Abeokuta–Sagamu Road

Residents of Sowo Village in Ogun State on Wednesday blocked the Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway after a speeding car killed four pupils of Iddo Primary School, Kobape.

The accident, which occurred around 3 p.m., involved a Toyota Corolla with registration number KSF 579 DM. According to witnesses, the pupils were walking home when the driver lost control and veered onto the walkway, hitting them.

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed that the children died on the spot and were later certified dead at the General Hospital, Ijaiye.

Angry youths attempted to lynch the driver, but security operatives intervened. Protesting residents barricaded the highway, causing heavy traffic before security agencies restored order.

The tragedy comes just 48 hours after another fatal crash on the same expressway claimed two lives at Siun junction.
