Nigeria’s Super Falcons will battle hosts Morocco in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final on Saturday, as the competition reaches its climax.
Morocco booked their spot after a tense 4-2 penalty shootout win over Ghana on Tuesday night in Rabat, following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
Ghana’s Stella Nyamekye opened the scoring in the 26th minute, but Morocco equalised early in the second half through Sakina Ouzraoui.
In the shootout, the Atlas Lionesses converted all four penalties, while Ghana missed twice—through Evelyn Badu and Comfort Yeboah—ending their title hopes.
The Super Falcons had earlier defeated defending champions South Africa 2-1 in the other semi-final, setting up a blockbuster final against the host nation.
Nigeria, who are nine-time WAFCON winners, will aim to secure a record 10th title and reaffirm their dominance in African women’s football.
