Victor Osimhen’s expected permanent move from Napoli to Galatasaray is dragging on, despite both clubs having agreed to the €75 million release clause for the Nigerian striker. The two sides remain locked in talks, with the main sticking point now centered on payment structure and financial guarantees.

Having already spent last season on loan with the Turkish giants—where he netted an impressive 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances—Osimhen has expressed his readiness to make the switch permanent. However, time is running out, as his release clause is set to expire on Tuesday. After that, Napoli would be free to demand a higher fee.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday that negotiations are ongoing, stating, “New direct talks underway today for Osimhen deal ahead of crucial week. Galatasaray’s bid on the table is €40m now plus €17.5m and €17.5m in instalments. Napoli are open to this solution but insist on different payment terms and bank guarantees.”

The Italian club’s insistence on solid bank guarantees stems from past experiences. Reports from Turkey’s Sports Digitale note that Napoli still harbors mistrust stemming from Galatasaray’s delayed payments in previous transfers involving Goran Pandev and Blerim Dzemaili back in 2014.

Initially, Napoli were reportedly open to receiving the total sum in five instalments, provided they had assurance that the payments would be honored. But Galatasaray’s failure to produce a reliable letter of guarantee led to a temporary halt in discussions. Their latest proposal—€40 million upfront with the remaining €35 million split into two equal payments—has reopened dialogue.

Meanwhile, Osimhen has reportedly declined both a return to Napoli and a move to Saudi Arabia, signaling his preference to remain in Europe.

With only a few days remaining before the release clause lapses, Galatasaray must act swiftly to finalize the deal. Failure to meet Napoli’s conditions could see the Serie A club entertain offers from other suitors.
