The United States Embassy in Abuja and its Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2025, in observance of America’s Independence Day.
The public holiday marks the 249th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which officially severed the 13 original colonies from British rule in 1776.
As a result of the closure, routine consular services — including visa appointments and other non-emergency processes — will be unavailable at both locations on the day.
Despite the holiday, the embassy confirmed that emergency consular services will remain accessible through designated contact channels.
Full operations are expected to resume on Monday, July 7, 2025, with all regular services restored.
