Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Segun Showunmi has praised Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his developmental strides over the past six years but urged him to intensify efforts to tackle Lagos’ growing environmental problems.
In a birthday message marking Sanwo-Olu’s 60th birthday, Showunmi warned that the governor must not allow Lagos to deteriorate into a “mega slum.” He urged Sanwo-Olu to strictly enforce the Lagos master plan and build on the environmental reforms initiated by former governors Tinubu, Fashola, and Ambode.
“What must be pulled down should be pulled down,” Showunmi stressed, calling for bold steps to sanitise the state.
He also encouraged the governor to support the work of Lagos Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, and ensure Lagos remains a model for urban planning in Africa.
