Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, narrowly avoided a tragic air incident when one of the engines on his aircraft failed shortly after takeoff. The unsettling experience occurred during a flight from Port Harcourt to Lagos.

In a video shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by user @ChuksEricE, Wike recounted the tense moments on board. He explained that his wife had earlier flown to Lagos to pick up their daughter, and he intended to join them later in the day. However, just 15 minutes into the flight, things took a turn when the air hostess began moving hurriedly, prompting concern among passengers.

“I asked what was going on, and she came back to tell us that one engine had failed,” Wike explained. Thankfully, the pilot remained calm under pressure and made the decision to turn the plane around, eventually landing safely back in Port Harcourt.

The news quickly went viral, sparking a flood of reactions online. While many expressed relief over the minister’s safety, others used the moment to reflect on life, mortality, and political power.

Social media users had mixed reactions—some offered prayers and second-chance reflections, while others took a more critical or humorous stance, highlighting Wike’s reputation and public persona.

Despite the incident, Wike appeared composed as he shared the ordeal, grateful for a safe landing and the pilot’s professionalism.
