Wike Escapes Plane Scare After Mid-Air Engine Failure

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, narrowly avoided a tragic air incident when one of the engines on his aircraft failed shortly after takeoff. The unsettling experience occurred during a flight from Port Harcourt to Lagos.

He explained that his wife had earlier flown to Lagos to pick up their daughter, and he intended to join them later in the day. However, just 15 minutes into the flight, things took a turn when the air hostess began moving hurriedly, prompting concern among passengers.

“I asked what was going on, and she came back to tell us that one engine had failed,” Wike explained. Thankfully, the pilot remained calm under pressure and made the decision to turn the plane around, eventually landing safely back in Port Harcourt.
