A 16-year-old student from Lagos, Oyindamola Apampa, has made headlines with an outstanding aggregate score of 351 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Apampa, a student of Lagoon Secondary School, scored 65 in English Language, 98 in Mathematics, 98 in Physics, and 90 in Chemistry.
In an inspiring turn of events, Apampa’s remarkable achievement comes after she initially scored 158 in her first UTME attempt, which was later deemed inaccurate due to technical issues at her exam center. Following the examination body’s authorization for a resit, Apampa seized the opportunity and achieved the impressive score of 351.
Attributing her success to determination, strategic preparation, and divine favor, Apampa thanked her parents for creating a supportive learning environment at home. She credited her parents’ efforts in establishing a home library and study room, where the family would engage in discussions and learning activities together.
Additionally, Apampa acknowledged the role of a learning center in Lekki, Lagos, where she received UTME preparation classes and regular mock examinations. The center’s head, Osayi Izedonmwen, attributed the students’ success to the center’s hybrid learning approach, which combines online and physical learning in a convenient and friendly environment.
Apampa’s academic excellence is not new; she had previously secured 10 As and one B in her Junior WAEC exams and represented her school in international competitions, including the Conrad Challenge, where her team reached the final stage and earned a special mention.
