Nigerian rapper and actor Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has reaffirmed his controversial claim that fornication is not a sin, stating that his views are based on a personal belief system he calls the “religion of love.”
The statement, initially posted on X (formerly Twitter), sparked widespread backlash, especially from Christian and Muslim followers who challenged his stance using religious scripture.
In a recent interview with Arise TV, Falz clarified that his comment was not made from a Christian or Islamic perspective, but rather from the principles of his own belief system.
“I think people would read the tweet and just assume that I meant according to Christianity. I wasn’t really speaking from that perspective,” he explained.
Falz said his “religion of love” does not view consensual premarital intimacy between unmarried adults as sinful.
“These are two unmarried people. Willingly. Consensually. Personally, I don’t think there is a problem there,” he added.
He also made a bold personal declaration:
“I’m no longer a Christian. I practice religion of love.”
The interview has reignited public debate over faith, personal freedom, and the boundaries of moral belief, with reactions ranging from criticism to support.
