In preparation for the Eid-El-Kabir celebrations and the anticipated surge in passenger movement, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced additional train services for Thursday, June 5, 2025.
In a statement issued by Callistus Unyimadu, Acting Deputy Director of Public Relations, the NRC confirmed that an extra Lagos-Ibadan Train Service (LITS) will run at 1:55 p.m., while the return Ibadan-Lagos trip will depart at 11:03 a.m. on the same day.
To further accommodate the holiday traffic, the NRC will also operate a Special Train Service on the Warri-Itakpe corridor on Thursday—a day normally reserved for maintenance.
“This is to ensure smooth travel for Muslim faithful and other passengers during the Sallah period,” the NRC said.
As a result of this operational adjustment, the routine maintenance originally scheduled for Thursday has been rescheduled to Sunday, June 8, 2025.
The NRC urged passengers to take advantage of the added services while assuring the public of continued safety and convenience throughout the holiday period.
Meanwhile, the Abuja–Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) will maintain its regular schedule, with additional coaches attached to handle increased passenger demand.
The NRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, extended warm wishes to all passengers, assuring them of the Corporation’s continued commitment to safe, efficient, and customer-focused railway services during and after the holiday season.
