The 17th Headies Awards to Hold on April 5, 2025, in Lagos

Exciting news for music fans! The 17th Headies Awards will take place on April 5, 2025, in Lagos, Nigeria. This date was officially revealed by the Headies Executive Producer, Mr. Ayo Animashaun, during an unveiling event held on Tuesday, January 28.

The build-up to the highly anticipated awards ceremony will begin in March 2025, with the grand finale scheduled for April 5th. In a groundbreaking move, the Headies will be hosting two editions in one year, with the 18th edition also set for December 2025.

Animashaun explained that the 17th edition, originally planned for 2024, was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. However, to maintain the annual rhythm of the awards, they decided to go ahead with two editions this year. The 18th edition will cover the period from August 2024 to a significant part of 2025.

While the host and venue for the 17th edition remain under wraps, this marks a major return to Nigeria after two editions abroad. The 16th edition, held in Atlanta, USA, was the second time the awards ceremony took place outside of Nigeria, with the move prompted by the high costs of planning in the home country.

The announcement of the Headies’ return to Nigeria has certainly sparked excitement within the local music scene, as the awards continue to be one of the most prestigious in the industry since its inception in 2006.
