Gladiator II becomes Denzel Washington’s highest-grossing film, reaching $320 million globally.

The Hollywood film Gladiator II has become the highest-grossing movie directed by Ridley Scott, featuring the legendary actor Denzel Washington.

Washington is widely recognized as one of the most respected and accomplished actors in Hollywood. Over his impressive career, he has delivered numerous iconic performances and garnered global admiration. His influence, however, extends well beyond the film industry. Despite his remarkable success, Washington hasn’t always been the go-to actor for blockbuster hits that shatter box office records, unlike some of his peers.

Recently, his partnership with Ridley Scott has proven to be a major financial triumph, with Gladiator II currently standing as Washington’s most profitable film to date. The movie has grossed $320.2 million globally as of now, surpassing the $267.9 million earned by American Gangster to become Washington’s highest-grossing collaboration with Scott. Even seventeen years after its release, American Gangster still holds the record for Washington’s biggest domestic gross at $130.1 million. However, Gladiator II is rapidly catching up, with its domestic earnings already reaching $111.4 million.

Over the years, Washington has starred in a wide range of action films, many of which have been commercial successes. Notably, the Equalizer series has consistently performed well, with each installment earning approximately $190 million worldwide. Even some of his less critically acclaimed films, like 2012’s Safe House, saw impressive financial results, grossing $208.1 million against an $85 million budget.
