Asake is continuing his chart dominance with his third album, Lungu Boy. Released on August 8, 2024, the album has now made history by becoming the longest-charting number-one album on Nigeria’s biggest music chart, the TurnTable album chart. Lungu Boy has spent a remarkable 15 weeks at the top, maintaining its position since its release.
This achievement has earned Asake a record for the longest-charting album and song on the TurnTable Charts. His hit single “Lonely At The Top” made history in 2023 as the longest-charting number-one song, surpassing Omah Lay’s “Godly,” which previously held the record with 11 weeks at number one.
Since breaking into the mainstream in 2022, Asake has quickly risen to superstardom, thanks to his chart-topping albums Mr. Money With The Vibes and Work Of Art. His latest project, Lungu Boy, features collaborations with top artists such as Stormzy, Central Cee, Anais Cardot, and Wizkid.
Asake’s success continues to soar, with “MMS” featuring Wizkid recently earning a nomination for Best African Song Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards. This marks Asake’s second Grammy nomination in just two years.
His unprecedented rise in Nigerian mainstream music has solidified Asake’s place as one of the country’s biggest stars, and with the ongoing success of Lungu Boy, it’s clear that the superstar shows no signs of slowing down.
