Nigerian artists have taken center stage in the nominations for the Best African Music Performance category at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.

The Recording Academy revealed the nominees on Friday, with Nigeria leading the charge. Among the nominated artists are returning stars Burna Boy and Asake. Burna Boy received a nomination for his popular track “Higher,” while Asake earned recognition for his collaboration with Wizkid on the song “MMS.”Yemi Alade earned her first solo nod for her hit single “Tomorrow,” and Tems’ “Love Me Jeje” also garnered a nomination for Best African Music Performance.

Davido also secured his second nomination in the category for his feature on Chris Brown’s track “Sensational,” while Lojay received his first-ever Grammy nomination for the same song.

Tems has made history as the only African artist with three nominations across global music categories at the 67th Grammy Awards. Her debut album ”Born in the Wild” is nominated for Best Global Music Album, and her hit song “Burning” is up for Best R&B Song.

Rema, the Nigerian global star, has also received a nomination in the Best Global Music Album category for his sophomore album ”HEIS”.

Other Nigerian artists nominated this year include Jordan Adetunji, known for his viral hit “Kelani,” as well as his song “Bloody Civilian,” which has earned a nomination in the Best Reggae Album category as part of the ”One Love” soundtrack, a tribute to Bob Marley.

This year also marks Burna Boy’s sixth consecutive Grammy nomination, making him the Nigerian artist with the most nominations to date. Since his first nomination for Best Global Music Album in 2020, and his win in 2021 for Twice as Tall, Burna Boy’s continued success has contributed to the growing global recognition of African music.

On the global stage, Beyoncé leads the 2025 Grammy race with 11 nominations for her genre-blending album Cowboy Carter. She is competing across major categories, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year, while also securing spots in pop, rap, country, and Americana categories.

Other top nominees this year include Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone, each with seven nominations, while Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter follow closely with six nominations each.
